This is my absolute favorite campground, and the site of our team trips in 2020 and 2021. We stay in the twinned sites of 30 & 31 or 12 & 13. I’ve stayed in many tent sites solo and have enjoyed my time in all of them. Our latest trip involved a canoe rental, which was wonderful. The onsite hikes are numerous and challenging.
The drive up is extremely easy: straight North up 87, about 4.5hrs from NYC. Just South of Lake George is a good exit (19) for gear, food and beverages.
